Springfield-Beckley Airport - October 10-13th, 2025:

Springfield, OH - April 4, 2025 — The Advanced Air Mobility Institute congratulates the National Advanced Air Mobility Center of Excellence (NAAMCE) at Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport (K-SGH) for their selection as the host city for the 100-year revival of the 1920s speed competition that bore the Pulitzer name. The Pulitzer Electric Aircraft Race will be hosted October 10-13th, 2025. Reimagined for the modern era, this historic race will bring together electric flight innovations of today from countries around the world, reinforcing Ohio as a key hub for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), while celebrating a century of aviation progress.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Pulitzer Electric Aircraft Race to Springfield, Ohio, after a century-long hiatus. The 1924 race took place at Wright Field, now part of Area B of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. In that time Ohio has upheld its role as a leader in aerospace innovation and has become a trailblazer in the third revolution of flight,” explained Ted Angel, Executive Director of NAAMCE. “This event will highlight Ohio’s unique Advanced Air Mobility assets, including the National Advanced Air Mobility Center of Excellence and dedicated airspace used as a proving ground for emerging aviation technology. We hope the race to claim the Pulitzer Trophy inspires aviation enthusiasts of all ages!”
Top contenders, Salinas and Stockton, California, were among the 3 finalists for host city, making the selection process highly competitive. Both cities presented exceptionally strong bids, demonstrating their strong commitment to promoting electric aviation. However, Springfield earned the highest composite score of 96.3 to win.
Dan Sloat, Executive Producer of the Pulitzer Electric Aircraft Race and Founder of the AAM Institute, shared his enthusiasm, “NAAMCE is a world-class facility with a thriving ecosystem of innovation and it will prove to be the perfect inaugural host. The Race will celebrate the dawn of electric aviation, pay homage to our aviation pioneers, and drive positive public awareness.”
