Joseph Kittinger Memorial Service

Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC.

Colonel Joseph W. Kittinger, Jr. (1928-2022), a decorated Air Force veteran and aerospace pioneer. will be honored with a memorial service at Arlington National Cemetery at 3:00 PM on September 9, 2024. A 1997 enshrinee in the National Aviation Hall of Fame, he is also honored in the Aviation Trail Parachute Museum in an interactive display featuring  his 102,800-foot jump from a balloon gondola that set a world record in 1960, a record that stood for 52 years.. Joe Kittinger was in mission control for that 2012 jump and can be seen communicating with Baumgartner in this dramatic video).
