Dayton’s National Park to Celebrate National Aviation Day

Park Ranger to Sing National Anthem at Dragon’s Game:

In celebration of National Aviation Day, Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park is excited to announce that Park Ranger Sirena Evans will represent the National Park Service by singing the National Anthem at the Dayton Dragon’s August 22 game against the Cedar Rapids Kernels. The invention of flight has reached all corners of the globe and impacted the world in so many ways, but what is National Aviation Day?

Franklin Delano Roosevelt created National Aviation Day in 1939 as a celebration of early aviation development. President Roosevelt chose Orville Wright’s birthday to mark the date in history, and it was codified allowing future presidents to issue a proclamation each year. Each August the aviation community looks to the nineteenth as a reminder of that tradition, recognizing the impact of flight on all our lives.

This partnership was developed to help spread awareness and encourage Dayton and the surrounding communities to visit their national parks and to explore the rich aviation history in the Miami Valley.
