B-25's at Grimes Field in Urbana, Ohio

On April 15 to April 17 nearly 20 WWII B-25 Mitchell bombers will be staging at Urbana's Grimes Field prior to the official ceremony for the 75th Anniversary of the Doolittle Raid ceremony at The National Museum of the US Air Force. Planes will be arriving at Grimes on Saturday, April 15 and Sunday, April 16. The Champaign Aviation Museum will be open from 9 to 5 both days, and admission is free (but donations are welcome). Rides on select B-25 aircraft will be available for purchase.

On Monday morning, April 17, the planes will depart for The National Museum of the US Air Force, where they will also be on display until taking off for the ceremonial fly-over prior to the memorial ceremony. A fly-over by two B-1 Bombers is scheduled to take place after the ceremony. There are two news releases on the NMUSAF events on this website under the "News" menu tab.

For more information (and cost of rides) on the events at Grimes Field see the Champaign Aviation Museum website at http://www.champaignaviationmuseum.org.
