One of the highlights of the Aviation Trail August 19th celebration was a hands-on demonstration of the assembly of wing ribs for a 1903 Wright Flyer. The wooden pieces were placed in a form to hold them in position and glued into place. The example spars will be used in the construction of a replica aircraft. The celebration was held at the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historic Park in honor of the August 19 birthdays of Orville and Katherine Wright, as well as the date of National Aviation Day. Guests at the event were given a tour of the site and enjoyed an ice cream social (with birthday cake) as part of the day's festivities. See the "Events" page for more information on the celebration.
