Wilbur and Orville WRight flew their experimental airplanes at Huffman Prairie field in 1904 (Flyer II) and 1905 (Flyer III).  The Wright brothers said they learned how to fly here at Huffman Prairie.

This is the site where the Wright brothers perfected the airplane and created the world's first airport.  Here many of the world's first pilots were trained, including America's first military pilots. The Wright Company opearted a flying school at the field and tested company airplanes from 1910 to 1916.

Today you can see a replica of the 1905 hangar constructed by the Wright brothers, as well as a replica catapult system.  A self-guided tour features interpretive signs describing other features of the flying field.
