The Memorial is located
at the top of Wright Brothers Hill, overlooking the Huffman Prairie
Flying Field where Wilbur and Orville conducted tests of their early
airplanes. It is surrounded by a tree filled park, which includes
a group of Indian mounds discovered during the preparation of the
site.
The Memorial was erected by the citizens of Dayton to
honor the Wright Brothers for their original aeronautical research.
Originally dedicated in 1940, it was rededicated in 1998 after major
resconstruction.

Directions from major highways:
From
the West or North: From I-75 South, exit onto State Route 4
North (Exit 54C). Take Route 4 to the exit for State Route 444
East. At the first stop light on 444, turn right on to Kauffman
Road. Just after making the turn and crossing the bridge over
the railroad tracks, turn right. You will enter the grounds
on the right side of Gate 16B. The road will take you to the
hill top where the memorial is located.
From the East: From I-70 exit onto State Route 4 South (Exit
41). Exit State Route 4 onto State Route 444 East. At
the first stop light on 444, turn right onto Kauffman Road.
Just after making the turn and crossing the bridge over the railroad
tracks, turn right. You will enter the grounds on the right
side of Gate 16B. The road will take you to the hill top where
the memorial is located.
From the South:
From I-75 North exit onto I-675 North (Exit 43). From I-675,
take the Colonel Glenn highway exit for "Area B" Wright-Patterson
Air Force Base (Exit 15). At the top of the exit ramp, turn
left onto Colonel Glenn. Travel east to the second stop light.
Turn left onto National Road. Travel north to the third stop
light. Turn left onto Kauffman Road. Follow Kauffman around
the curve. Just before crossing the bridge, turn left into Gate
16B. The road to the right of the gate will take you to the
hill top where the memorial is located.
